Dr. Masayasu Kihira
Board-Certified Family Physician
Clinic Director
Dr. Kihira was born and raised in Nagoya, Japan. After graduating from Nagoya University School of Medicine, he completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at Nagoya University related hospitals and passed the Orthopedic Board Exam. While having residency training in Japan for 7 years, he obtained his Ph.D.
He came to the United States for a couple of years initially for research, but he made a life changing decision to practice in U.S in 1992. He passed medical boards and completed residency in family medicine at Wake Forest University in North Carolina and became board certified in Family Medicine in 1995.
After practicing as a family doctor in Florida for 3 years, he became the clinic director of Nihon Clinic Atlanta in 1998.
Dr. Kihira moved to California in 2004 and opened Nihon Bay Clinic as the clinic director. As a family doctor and a former orthopedist, his knowledge ranges over internal medicine, pediatrics, surgery, orthopedics, obstetrics and gynecology, dermatology, ear nose and throat, ophthalmology, urology, psychiatry, and complete physical exams (Ningen Dock) as well as physical therapy.
Dr. Yukiko Kashiwa Poon
Board-Certified Pediatrician
Dr. Poon was born in Hokkaido and raised in Ibaraki, Japan. She came to the States to study medicine. She graduated from Loma Linda School of Medicine in 2007 and completed pediatric residency at Loma Linda Children’s Hospital and is board certified in Pediatrics.
She practiced as a hospitalist for several years at Miller Children’s Hospital at Long Beach, CA and Sutter Memorial Hospital in Sacramento, CA.
Dr. Poon moved to the Bay Area and started working at Nihon Bay Clinic in 2015. She enjoys hiking, playing piano & clarinet, and spending time with her husband and son.
Laurin Yuri Noguchi, NP
Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner
Dr. Laurin Yuri Noguchi, NP was born in Tokyo and raised in the Bay Area. She graduated from University of Pennsylvania in 2015 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. For 9 years, she worked in the Washington DC metro area and Bay Area as a nurse in various hospital settings, including orthopedics, neurology, and psychiatry; she also worked in research and COVID-19 triage. In 2024, she graduated from Johns Hopkins School of Nursing with a Doctorate in Nursing Practice with a concentration in Family Primary Care. Outside of Nihon Bay Clinic, she works as a professor at Samuel Merritt University.
